After more than 40 years, John Hechavarria has retired from cutting hair at Fairfield Barber Shop.
His retirement opened an opportunity for Trumbull resident and barber Marco DiVincenzo, who was looking "to go on my own."
For DiVincenzo, cutting hair is a family business that he's been a part of for seven years. His brother and father are also barbers.
Dad Mario -- a 49-year veteran in the barber industry -- owned Mario and Mike's barber shop in Westport before selling it several years ago. He's now helping DiVincenzo in his new venture at 29 Unquowa Road.
Hechavarria and the older DiVincenzo know each other and the former Fairfield Barber Shop owner approached Mario about the future of the shop.
Marco DiVincenzo officially took over the shop on Tuesday.

The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. It's closed Sunday and Monday.
