Fairfield Chamber Hosts 'Emergency Preparedness for the Business Community' Panel
The panel will aim to address emergency situations that occur and how businesses can return to normal operations.

From Fairfield CT Chamber: The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Town of Fairfield, is hosting a panel discussion on “Emergency Preparedness for the Business Community”, on May 18, 2017 at 7:30am-9:30am at Pequot Library.
The guest panel speakers will be Police Chief Gary MacNamara and Fire Chief Denis McCarthy. Each Chief will discuss their respective responsibilities within each of their departments during an emergency situation (large or small) … and how together, they work quickly to help the business community restore itself back to “business as usual”.
Emergency situations can happen in a split second! Either as a surprise (an unanticipated event) … or, advance notice (i.e., hurricanes & blizzards). These situations may occur during the work week or weekend, during the day or in the evening when a business is closed. But whenever it occurs, a business needs to know emergency protocol to expedite recovery.

Fire Chief Denis McCarthy and Police Chief Gary MacNamara understand the importance of quickly securing a situation and getting it under control. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA): 40 percent of businesses do not reopen following a major disaster.
Failure rates are much higher for those who have not adequately prepared. So in addition to public safety oversight, these two Departments also serve our business community with the ultimate goal of minimizing the length of time a business is closed, and helping the business owner get their doors open for customers as soon as possible. We’ve all heard the saying: Knowledge is Power. And as such, by learning and gaining a good understanding of business emergency preparedness, it will protect your business, and protect your future.
