Fairfield To Honor Jewish American Heritage Month
Jewish American Heritage Month is celebrated annually in May.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield will host a ceremony on Monday honoring Jewish American Heritage Month, a celebration held nationally each year in May.
First Selectman Bill Gerber will issue a Town of Fairfield Proclamation during the ceremony recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month, an event open to the public. The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the garden behind Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road, in Fairfield.
Last year, more than 100 people turned out for the ceremony, which was also held at the Town Hall complex.

"Fairfield has a long and proud tradition as a welcoming community," Gerber said in a statement to Patch. "We are strengthened and enriched by the diversity of the people who live and work in our Town, including the warm circle of friends we have in our Jewish neighbors."
The proclamation will highlight the heritage and contributions of Jewish Americans and the significant role of the Jewish community in Fairfield, according to Gerber, adding that it will also urge all residents to condemn antisemitism.

In addition to Gerber, members of the interfaith and Jewish community will also speak during Monday's event.
"Celebrating May as Jewish American Heritage Month allows us to reflect on the contributions made by people of Jewish heritage and faith, and is an opportunity for all of us to draw closer in understanding and respect," Gerber said.
