Fairfield To Honor Martin Luther King Jr Day With Proclamation And Call to Service

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield will mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a public proclamation recognizing the Jan. 19 holiday as a National Day of Service and honoring the legacy of the civil rights leader.
First Selectperson Christine Vitale is scheduled to read the proclamation at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Fairfield Public Library, 1080 Old Post Road, in the library’s gallery. The event is open to the public.
According to the town, the proclamation affirms Fairfield's commitment to Dr. King’s belief that "Life’s most important and urgent question is what are you doing for others?" Martin Luther King Jr Day is not just a federal holiday, but a commemoration which encourages Americans to work to actively bring about positive change in their communities.
