A car fire on Black Rock Turnpike Tuesday became a hands-on training exercise for the Fairfield Fire Department's newest firefighters.Probationary firefighters Matt Striebe, Tyler Prescott, and Peter Krajcsik. assisted by Lt. Mark Harry, extinguished the car fire under the direction of Lt. Dennis Eannotti. "A routine car fire turned into a valuable training opportunity," Assistant Chief George Gomola said.
