Harry's Wine & Liquor Recommends Brews for Your BBQ

Wondering which brew to serve at your Memorial Day BBQ?

Renzo Kian-Kubota of Harry's Wine and Liquor Market can lead you in the right direction.

For summer beers, Harry's focuses on canned brews. Light can't shine through a can like it does a glass bottle, which affects the freshness and taste of a beer, Kian-Kubota said.

The can prevents oxidation of the beer, too, so it "stays fresher longer," he said.

Pouring the beer into the proper glassware makes a difference in taste, Kian-Kubota said, but cans are easier to serve at a cookout.

He doesn't have a particular favorite beer, a "fresh thirst-quencher with body and a low alcohol content" makes a good summer drink.

Kian-Kubota recommends the Ol' Factory Pils from Stratford's Two Roads Brewing Company.

"It's dry-hopped, which is unique," he said. "It adds a lyric of hoppiness."

He also suggests trying the Sea Hag IPA from New England Brewing Co. in Woodbridge.

"They're killing it -- it's flying off the shelves," Kian-Kubota said.

"They really nailed the recipe. It tastes so good and fresh."
