House Fire Displaces Fairfield Residents

FAIRFIELD, CT — A household was displaced by a fire Saturday night in Fairfield, according to authorities.

A neighbor called 911 around 8:30 p.m. to report smoke coming from the chimney of a home on Dogwood Lane, adding there was a beeping noise inside the house and no answer at the door, authorities said.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the chimney and roof line, as well as from the basement at the seat of the fire, according to authorities, who brought the blaze under control around 9:45 p.m.

No one was hurt, but the house was uninhabitable due to fire, smoke and heat damage, authorities said, adding the cause was under investigation.

Bridgeport, Westport and Norwalk personnel provided on-scene and station assistance during the blaze.
