Letter To The Editor: Supporting Tony Hwang For Re-Election

"Tony uses his position for the greater good of our community and State."

To the Editor:

I am pleased to be supporting State Senator Tony Hwang for re-election. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Tony for many years, since we ran for Representative Town Meeting together back in 2005. In recent years, I’ve worked with him as a citizen activist (along with many others) who have fought against bad bills that chips away at the local control of our zoning decisions. As an environmentalist and as a ranking member of the Planning & Development Committee, Tony has worked in earnest to educate the public on the deficiencies in scores of bills that would foster or mandate out-of-scale developments and out-of-control density in our town and transit centers without creating much affordability.

He’s led countless public forums, community events and more to educate citizens on why local control matters when making decisions about our land, creating affordable and diverse housing, our environment, planning and development. Tony believes strongly that we can do both: we can increase housing diversity and affordability while also respecting our environmental and infrastructure concerns and restrictions in our coastal communities.

It’s also worth noting that Tony is a ubiquitous member of his district and is present at countless events and in our neighborhoods, and he’s always ready to lend a hand to help others - no matter who you are or what party that you're in. I am proud to support Tony Hwang and look forward to seeing his continued service to the 28th district.

Sincerely,
