News release from "76 Days Adrift":
FAIRFIELD, CT — Steve Callahan, who grew up in Dover, MA and now lives in Lamoine, ME tells the story of his 76 Days at Sea after drifting 1,800 miles across the Atlantic in a 5½-foot-long raft.
Director and producer Joe Wein’s riveting documentary conveys not just the intensity of Callahan’s ordeal, but the enormous ingenuity and perseverance that helped him stay alive until he was found by fishermen.

The film is based on Callahan’s 1986 book “Adrift: 76 Days Lost at Sea,” which documents how Callahan, about to turn 30, set off alone from the Canary Islands to sail across to the Caribbean.
“How long do you think you could survive if you were lost at sea with no food, water, or help in sight, and then forced to live on a raft?” Oprah Winfrey asked Callahan during a television interview about his book. The film sets out to answer that question.
