Stinging Jellyfish Reported At Fairfield's Jennings, Penfield Beaches
The Health Department has issued an advisory about the creatures.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Stinging jellyfish have been reported at Jennings and Penfield beaches in Fairfield, prompting the Health Department to issue an advisory to residents.
"The presence of jellyfish can vary based [on] currents, wind and tides, please be cautious when swimming," wrote local health officials on Facebook, adding that swimming areas remain open.
Though the creatures have been reported at Penfield and Jennings beaches, officials said that they could possibly be at other beaches as well.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, jellyfish stings can range from minor to serious.
"If you have a minor jellyfish sting, you may feel slight pain, itching, burning or throbbing," clinic officials wrote on the facility's website. "A jellyfish sting may look like a rash with red, purple or brown patches."

More serious stings can result in symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pains, nausea, vomiting or skin blisters, among other ailments.
