Sweet Rexie's may have moved into a smaller space, but the candy and sweets shop has big plans.

The shop reopened just next door to its original location at the corner of Post Road and Miller Street.
Staff and customers recently celebrated the grand reopening.

Sweet Rexie's will focus more on catering sweets for special events and creating customized gift baskets. Those offsite activities that allowed the shop to move into a smaller space, store manager Kerrin Gildae said.

As for in-store events, the shop hosts birthday parties from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday before it opens to the public, so partygoers can have the candy wonderland to themselves, per Gildae.

Besides the move and focus on event planning and gift baskets, Sweet Rexie's added an all-natural ice cream line to its inventory.

Sweet Rexie's now sells ice cream from the Massachusetts-based SoCo Creamery, which just won awards in a Boston contest for its "dirty chocolate" and "salted caramel" flavors, Gildae said.

Customers will also find the retro soda line "Pop Shop" at Sweet Rexie's.

The shop is owned by Fairfield resident Nanci Lewis.
