Fairfield Teen & 5 Juveniles Accused Of Shooting Pellet Gun At People at Fairfield U.: PD

The suspects are accused of firing pellet guns at people in Fairfield and on the university's campus, according to authorities.

FAIRFIELD, CT — An 18-year-old Fairfield resident and five juveniles were arrested on assault and breach of peace charges last weekend, after Fairfield police said the teens fired "Orbeez-style pellet guns" from a moving SUV at people in town and on the Fairfield University campus.

No injuries were reported in the Saturday incident, but at least three individuals confirmed to police that they had been struck by pellets.

Fairfield police were initially called to Birch Road on a report that people were firing pellet guns at people from a black SUV.

All six were arrested on misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

The 18-year-old was released on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 22, and the juveniles were released to their parents' custody, and they are scheduled to appear in juvenile court at a later date.

While pellet guns are not as lethal as real firearms, they can still lead to serious consequences. In January, an elementary school in Manchester was placed on lockdown, after a person wandered onto school grounds with an air-powered pellet rifle.

And in 2022, a juvenile scared beach goers at Silver Sands in Milford, after he waved a pellet gun around.
