'Honey Queen' Coming To Farmington To Talk Beekeeping
Next month, Lucy Winn will speak on the importance of honeybees to the public's daily lives and the role beekeepers play in pollination.

FARMINGTON, CT — The 2022 "American Honey Queen," who speaks on behalf of the American Beekeeping Foundation in locations nationwide, will be making a stop at the Farmington Main Library on June 17.
At 11 a.m. that day, Honey Queen Lucy Winn will talk to attendees about the importance of honeybees to the public's daily lives — including their economic and environmental value — and the role beekeepers play in driving honeybee pollination.
As the 2022 American Honey Queen, Winn is traveling throughout the United States to spread the message of the American Beekeeping Federation, a national trade organization that represents beekeepers and honey producers.

"The beekeeping industry touches the lives of every individual in our country," the Federation said in a statement. "In fact, honeybees are responsible for nearly one-third of our entire diet, in regards to the pollination services that they provide for a large majority of fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes. This amounts to nearly $19 billion per year of direct value from honeybee pollination to United States agriculture."
Winn will be in Connecticut from June 16-21, and will make appearances in schools and other community spaces as well.
