What's on tap for today?

After Zumba yesterday and returning to the gym after a two-month-hiatus to lift weights, I'm pumped for Wednesday. How about you?

I can't feel too bad about my break from the gym because I have been running, but there is still the fact that you're paying for a gym membership and not going.

In the past, I've only had three-month gym memberships for the winter months.

How about you? Do you have a gym membership in the spring and summer or are you a cold weather gym member only? What gym would you recommend to someone new to the area? When you are not an active gym goer, what do you do to exercise nearby?

Once you've figured out that gym membership or done your last reps on the bench press, here are five things you should know today.

  1. The town of Farmington will be adding signage to the Farmington Valley Canal Heritage Trail to make it easer for bikers to navigate. Part of the trail is along the developing East Coast Greenway, which spans from Maine to Florida.
  2. Free Blood Pressure Meeting: There will be a blood pressure screening on Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. at the Farmington Public Library.
  3.  Macy’s Hosts Eighth Annual “Shop For A Cause” on Saturday. Click the link provided for more information.
  4. Farmington Resident Named to National Safety and Health Board. Congratulations!
  5. "Patchy fog" in the morning and sunny in the afternoon! Click on the link provided to read more about today's weather forecast from the National Weather Service. .
