Found in Glastonbury -- A Piece of Connecticut PGA History

The CT Section of the PGA is hoping someone can provide some information on this set of clubs.

The Connecticut Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association is seeking a little help in the history department.

Gondek Construction is renovating a house at 19 Quarry Rd. in Glastonbury, and workers found an old set of golf clubs stored in the attic.

After doing some research, the Connecticut Section PGA believes “these might have been the clubs used by Maurice Kearney to win the first Connecticut PGA Championship, held in 1929 at Wampanoag CC.”

In a post in the Connecticut’s monthly newsletter, the “golf clubs are circa the 1920s and are stamped with the name “Kearney” on the shaft. To help us solve this mystery, please pass along any historical information you might have to the Section Office.”

Information can be sent to Connecticut Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association, 931 Main St., Carriage House, South Glastonbury, 06073; the phone is 1-860-430-2302.
