Glastonbury Man Filed False Tax Returns; Will Serve Prison Time
The owner of American U.S.A. Paving substantially understated his business' gross receipts for four years, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
GLASTONBURY, CT — A Glastonbury man has been sentenced to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns for four years.
George Lee, 51, of Glastonbury owns and operates American U.S.A. Paving. From the 2015 through 2018 tax years, he gave his tax return preparer information that substantially understated his business' gross receipts, according to court documents and statements made in court.
So, his personal federal income tax returns for those years — which he authorized his preparer to file with the IRS — underreported his income by more than $588,000, resulting in a tax loss of $154, 238.
