In Memoriam: Catherine 'Kay' Lout
The Glastonbury resident passed away Nov. 16 at the age of 102.

Catherine ‘Kay’ (Hassett) Lout, 102 years old, a longtime resident of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully at Salmon Brook Nursing Home on Nov.16, 2015.
Born on October 13, 1913, in Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (Dwyer) Hassett. She was the twelfth of 13 children born to her parents and the last surviving.

In 1928 Catherine was required to immigrate to the United Sates to work as a household domestic to help support her family. Settling in Rochester, New York with her older sister. It is there she met her former/late husband Raymond P. Lout. After raising her two children she settled in Glastonbury and was a nanny and babysitter for many families in town.
She was affectionately known by her friends and neighbors as the “Walker” for her long walks around town and loved for her friendly attitude and generosity. Not allowed to complete high school, she studied and achieved her GED in her mid- 50s.

She survived by her sons: Dr. Robert P. Lout of Vermont, Ronald P. Lout of Cheyenne WY. Two granddaughters: Maura Lout and her husband Chris Weiss of New York, Meghan Lout of Vermont and her great-granddaughter Violet of New York. And last but not least her best and special friend Dr. Beth Meyrand (Wisconsin).
Her memorial mass will be on Dec. 4, 2015 at 10AM at St. Paul’s Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury, followed by the interment of her cremated remains in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury. There are no visiting hours. Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, CT 06033 is in charge of her arrangements.
