In Memoriam: Robert W. Ponchak
The Glastonbury resident passed away Jan. 9 at the age of 92.

Robert W. ‘Honey’ Ponchak, 92, of Glastonbury, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016.
He was born in Hartford, July 25, 1923, the son of the late Andrew and Theresa Ponchak, the last of twelve children.

Bob lived in East Hartford and Glastonbury.
He was married to the late Pauline (Duquette) Ponchak for 65 years and they had one daughter, the late Catherine Ponchak Miller.

Bob served proudly in the US Navy from 1942-1946 during World War II as an armed guard. He was an East Hartford police officer and later worked for the MDC.
Bob loved life and worked hard to please others, an endeavor that endeared him to everyone. He was a kind hearted person with a warm smile, keen mind and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved the UCONN girls basketball team, hunting and fishing and his hunting dog, Mac. He loved gardening, growing “the best tomatoes in Glastonbury” and sharing them with everyone.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and an active member of the Men’s Club. Bob’s passing leaves a deep hole in all his family and friends hearts, while making them better people for being part of his life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 15 at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday, Jan. 14 from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 453, Glastonbury, CT. 06033.
