Award-Winning Photojournalist to Share Stories at Benefit

From Save the Children:

WHAT: Members of the Greenwich community and surrounding towns are invited to attend an evening of cocktails and conversation at the Greenwich Academy featuring a discussion with Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario and Save the Children CEO Carolyn Miles. The April 19 event, More than a Snapshot: The Fragile Lives of Children in Conflict, is presented by Greenwich Leadership Council of Save the Children and will benefit Fairfield-based Save the Children’s efforts to focus on the most deprived and marginalized children, ensuring all boys and girls survive, learn, and are protected from harm.

Addario, a Westport native, has captured some of the most iconic images in war zones ranging from Afghanistan to Libya and has reported on Syrian refugees, ISIS in Iraq, and the civil war in South Sudan. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, National Geographic, and Time Magazine. Warner Brothers recently secured the filming rights to Addario’s New York Times best-selling book, “It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War,” with Steven Spielberg slated to direct it. Carolyn Miles, named one of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders by Fortune Magazine, will join Addario to discuss the daily struggles of children and women living amidst poverty and violence in worn-torn countries.
