GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich is preparing for a strong winter storm that's forecast to move through town on Friday.
It's anticipated that there will be approximately two inches or more of rainfall and wind gusts of 40-50 mph, according to a report from the Greenwich Deartment of Public Works. Temperatures are expected to plummet to a low of 11 degrees on Friday, which will likely cause icy road conditions.
DPW said its closely monitoring the weather and is beginning to prepare for the possibility of flooding and icy conditions. Employees are surveying the town's 265 miles of road to check drainage structures and make sure staff and equipment are at the ready, DPW said in an update Wednesday afternoon.
