GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Town Hall will operate under a delayed opening on Tuesday due to snow in the forecast.

Acting First Selectwoman Lauren Rabin made the announcement on Monday afternoon. First Selectman Fred Camillo is currently out of state.

"This is being done out an abundance of caution due to the National Weather Service predicting heavy snow Monday night into Tuesday morning for Southern Connecticut," the announcement from Rabin said. "According to the forecast, heavy snow and some sleet are expected with total snow and sleet accumulations of five to eight inches possible."

Because of difficult travel conditions, town hall will open at 10 a.m., Tuesday.

Rabin reminded residents that during the storm, people should stay off the roads if at all possible. People should also limit their time outside, and if they do need to go out they should wear layers of warm clothing and keep an eye out for signs of frostbite and hypothermia.

Residents should also use caution and avoid overexertion when shoveling and walking in the snow.

Residents should be extra cautious if they do drive during these potentially hazardous conditions and leave extra time if they must travel during the storm.

If a warming center is needed, the Margenot Atrium of the Public Safety Complex at 11 Bruce Place will be open for people come in and charge small electronic devices.

Additionally, Greenwich Library and the Byram Shubert and Cos Cob branches will close at 7 p.m., on Monday ahead of the snow.

All items due today are extended until March 1, the library said.

Residents can access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, music, TV streaming, and more on their phone or tablet with the digital library. You can also catch-up on past library programs on the library's YouTube channel.
