Metro-North Announces Resumption of Service: UPDATE
Here are the details on exactly when area rail service will resume on Sunday.

Updated: Sunday, 8:35 a.m.
Metro-North will begin restoring service at the outlying terminal stations after 12 noon and be fully operationally in and out of Grand Central Terminal by 3 p.m., operating on a Sunday schedule.

As the snow continues to pile up, Metro-North Railroad has announced it will begin suspension of service on its lines at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Gov. Dannel Malloy, in an interview with WCBS 880 at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, said he agreed with the decision made by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to shut down the railroad.
“Grand Central Terminal to the Greenwich border is getting beaten up. I think that the Governor and the MTA are looking at preserving the system so they can restore service as soon as possible,” Malloy said.

Cuomo posted on Twitter:
“@MetroNorth and @LIRR trains are getting stranded. Tracks are icing over. 4pm will be last inbound or outbound train on Metro-North & LIRR.
Public safety is job 1. Road travel ban will commence as of 2:30pm in the downstate area, in an orderly way so people can get home.”
Malloy said that roads in Fairfield County and coastal Connecticut “are passable but if you don’t need to be on the road, we prefer that you not (be).”
Malloy posted on Twitter mid-Saturday afternoon, “Right now, #CTDOT has 543 plow trucks deployed, particularly focused on the Fairfield County and shoreline areas.”
The rail shutdown comes on the heels of the shutdown at noon of Connecticut Bus Service along the shoreline including CTtransit Stamford, Norwalk Transit, Greater Bridgeport Transit, Milford Transit and Coastal Link.
