Public Comments Sought on Greenwich Community Development Block Grant Recommendations

Residents have until next month to comment on the funding proposals.

Now that the final recommendations on how to spend nearly $700,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant money have been made, the Community Development Office is seeking comments and input from the public.

There are 26 proposed grants totaling $689,369 that would be funded with Community Development Block Grant money for the 2016 Program Year. Six funding requests were not accepted.

The recommendations were approved by the Board of Selectmen, the Board of Estimate and Taxation and the Representative Town Meeting and after the comment period, will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Copies of the Proposed 2016 CDBG Annual One-Year Action Plan are available for public inspection as well as input, comments and suggestions at all four libraries in town (Greenwich Library, Byram Shubert Library, Cos Cob Library and Perrot Library); and at Greenwich Town Hall in the Town Clerk’s Office and the Community Development Office.

Comments should be submitted by Feb. 19 to the CDBG Office, Greenwich Town Hall, 101 Field Point Rd., Greenwich, CT 06830) or via email to perfe@greenwichct.org.

A summary of the comments and a summary of any comments not accepted and the reasons for such will be included with the submission of the 2016 Annual Action Plan.
