Strong Thunderstorms Moving Through Southern Connecticut Now
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Fairfield County and parts of New Haven and Middlesex counties.

UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8 p.m. for parts of New London, Middlesex and New Haven counties, the National Weather Service said.
"At 741 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Voluntown to near Gales Ferry to near Old Lyme, moving east at 35 mph," according to the weather service.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

These severe storms will be near...
New London and Groton around 745 PM EDT.
UPDATE: Strong storms are forecast for Fairfield, Middlesex and New Haven counties until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
"At 610 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Thomaston to Woodbury Center to near Bethel. Movement was east at 35 mph," the weather service said.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Waterbury and Naugatuck around 615 PM EDT.
Monroe and Prospect around 620 PM EDT.
Shelton and Cheshire around 625 PM EDT.
Meriden and Hamden around 630 PM EDT.
Middletown and Wallingford around 635 PM EDT.
New Haven and North Haven around 640 PM EDT.
Durham and North Branford around 645 PM EDT.
Lake Pocotopaug--East Hampton around 650 PM EDT.
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Fairfield County until 6:30 p.m.
"At 540 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Peekskill, moving east at 55 mph," according to the weather service.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include: Stamford, Danbury, New City, Ossining, New Canaan, Haverstraw, Mount Kisco, Mahopac, Greenwich, Ridgefield, Wilton, Weston, Redding, Hawthorne, and Pomona.
The National Weather Service has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Middlesex and New Haven counties until 6:15 p.m.
"At 534 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Dover Plains to near Wingdale to near Fahnestock State Park, moving east at 45 mph," the weather service said.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.
