Dinner Celebrated Different Cultures at West Side Middle School

Parents, staff brought meals to share at the school's annual multicultural dinner.

Every year, West Side Middle Schools holds a multicultural dinner to bring families together and share a meal.

The event drew about 200 people this year. Students and staff shared Italian, French and Spanish dishes as well as food from other countries. Families also brought dishes from different regions, like the south.

“I think it’s fantastic,” said Andrew Ilvento, who teaches civics and engineering and attended the dinner on March 27 for the first time this year. "I went to West Side as a student. (The dinner) brings the community together, which is a great thing.”

Students helped provide entertainment. The school jazz band played, a folk singer performed, one of the French classes put on a skit and students sang while signing in sign language.
