Avery Point Student Center Unveiled

The new student center opened just before the beginning of fall semester.

The University of Connecticut at Avery Point opened doors to a brand new student center Wednesday, according to a report in The Day.

The $9.7 million student center includes a new kitchen, café, game area with billiards, a ping pong table, a café, a meeting room and performance space.

The center replaces the old student center which was demolished about two years ago and is about the same size at 7,000 square feet.

Workers at the center told reporters at The Day said the center is bright and open and a lot more modern. People seemed impressed with the new feature but said the campus would greatly benefit from a new academic building also.

Renovations to the campus are planned but specifics have not been announced yet.
