First Day of School and Civil War Discussion at the Library

Five things to know on Wednesday, August 28.

  1. The National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3pm and patchy fog before 9am today. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 78. We might see some isolated showers and thunderstorms tonight and/or patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. 
  2. The Master Plan Committee meets at 6 p.m. in the Groton Senior Center; the Inland Wetlands Agency meets at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex.
  3. Go to the Groton Public Library for tonight’s Civil War inspired discussion “For the Sake of the Country: Women Spies of the Civil War” from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  4. Today is the first day of school for most Groton students so be on the look out for kids and buses!
  5. Don’t forget that this Sunday is the last of the concerts in Washington Park. 9Teen will conclude the summer season while boy scouts sell hot dogs. The concert is free and is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
