Daily Five: An Annual Tag Sale, A Book Sale and The RX Express Bus

Five Things To Know, Tuesday, April 10.

1.  Today is Tuesday, April 10.  The National Weather Service predicts partly sunny skies, a 20 percent chance of showers, possible thunderstorms after noon and a high temperature of 57 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 38 degrees.

2.  U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney will host a Town Hall Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the New London Science and Technology Magnet School to talk about Medicare and Republican plans to privatize the program. Courtney will speak briefly, then take questions. The meeting is open to the public.

3.  The Annual Sale beginning Thursday at Grasso Technical High School in Groton. The sale, which features furniture, jewelry, clothing, sporting goods, toys and more, raises money to provide services for children and families such as mental health care, child care, health care, treatment of family violence and prevention of child abuse. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the school at 189 Fort Hill Road.

4.  Groton Public Library is holding a book sale during regular library hours from Friday to Monday. Stop in and check out the great collection of books, DVDs and other items!

5.  The Connecticut Department of Social Services’ Medicare Rx-Xpress bus will be in Groton from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on April 26 at if you need help. The bus provides help with Medicaid and Medicare assistance, HUSKY medical insurance, food stamp applications and information. Appointments are recommended; call (860) 441-6760.
