1. Today is Thursday, April 5. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies, winds of 10 to 17 mph, and a high temperature of 52 degrees. The low will fall to 34 degrees tonight.
2. The City of Groton holds its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Groton Municipal Building on Meridian Street. The event, for children ages 2 to 12, takes place rain or shine and is free. The Easter bunny is available for photos with the children after the egg hunt. About

4. The Marine Science Magnet High School will hold its first spelling bee on Friday, April 27, and is looking for sponsors and teams. Teams will compete for trophies and bragging rights by correctly spelling words from the Scripps National Spelling Bee. For more information, go to the school website and click on PTO or call Megan Horst at (860) 446-9380. George Colli, of Fox 61, will serve as master of ceremonies. Groton City Mayor Marian Galbraith will be among the judges.
5. in Groton City is taking registration for its spring story time program for children, ages 3 to 5. The program will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays from April 25 through May 30. It includes stories songs, finger plays, and simple crafts. Registration is required; for more information call the library at (860) 445-0392 or stop in.
