Daily Five: Immigration Day, Bike To Work And The Education Breakfast
Five Things To Know, Thursday, May 17.

1. Today is Thursday, May 17. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 69 degrees. The low will fall to 46 degrees tonight.
2. S.B. Buter School will hold its immigration day today at 1 p.m. at the school. The fourth grade will re-enact the Ellis Island immigration.
3. Friday is National Bike to Work Day, and to celebrate, the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, the Connecticut Department of Transportation and CT Rides will host breakfast events at the Union Railroad Station in New London. A group will meet at 7 a.m. at the New London Train Station for the free event. There will be coffee, snacks, raffles and cycling giveaways.

4. The Annual Education breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. on May 30 at the Groton Inn & Suites. Guests will include student Leaders from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School, Ella T. Grasso Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School, Ledyard High School, New London Public School, Waterford High School, and The Williams School.
5. The Connecticut Department of Social Services’ Medicare Rx-Xpress bus will be in Groton from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 24. The R-Xpress provides Medicaid and Medicare RX assistance and eligibility screenings, HUSKY (Medical insurance) and SNAP (Food Stamp) applications and information. The bus has booths that ensure privacy during counseling and interviews.
