1. Today is Monday, April 16. The National Weather Service predicts areas of fog before 9 a.m. but sunny skies otherwise, and a high temperature of 74 degrees. The low will drop to 56 degrees tonight.
2. Representative Town Meeting’s Education Committee will begin debating the education budget at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the school administration building. On April 5, the a zero percent increase over the current fiscal year. Councilors also approved several capital projects, including design plans for fire safety improvements at Charles Barnum and Mary Morrisson Elementary schools.

3. will lay off 13 employees beginning June 8, according to a notification sent to the town. The employees, including technicians and test mechanics, are represented by the Metal Trades Council.
4. has been awarded the “certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting”, for its reporting of the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2011. The award is the highest recognition given for governmental accounting and financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
