1. Today is Wednesday, April 25. The National Weather Service predicts isolated showers after 10 a.m., then partly sunny skies and a high temperature of 58 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with gradual clearing and a low of 41 degrees.
2. Representative Town Meeting will hold its annual budget meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Groton Senior Center. If you’d like to speak about the budget, this meeting is an opportunity. The group allows citizens’ petitions of 10 minutes or less.

The – a 2.2 percent increase over the current year’s spending. If adopted as proposed, the budget would result in a 1.21 mill increase in the tax rate, from 18.89 mills to 20.10 mills, or an increase of 6.4 percent.

3. Groton ‘s “One Book, One Region” program, a series aimed at sharing ideas and boosting reading appreciation, will kick off at 6 p.m. on May 8 in the Mystic Arts Center. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks, who wrote “Caleb’s Crossing” will attend, and Living Literature will perform 10 minutes of their theater interpretation of the book. 4. If you have leftover prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines at home, Groton is holding a “Prescription Drug Take Back” from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the and the Groton Municipal Building on Meridian Street. You can bring the medicines in and drop them off. Containers must have their original labels, and the drop off centers do not accept illegal drugs or paraphernalia. 5. If you have talent you’d like to share, Groton Public Library will hold a Teen Open Mic at 7 p.m. on May 15. This is a chance to take the band out of the basement or garage, or to read that poetry you’ve been writing. Performances must be PG-rated, with no swear words.
