First Day For Groton Postponed Again

First Day For Most Grades Moved To Tuesday, Sept. 6

With four schools still without electricity, Superintendent of Schools Paul Kadri had to delay the first day of school again today, claiming three snow days before the first day of school.

The district's website says grades 1 through 12 will report to school on Tuesday, Sept. 6th and pre-kindergarten and kindergarten will report to school on Friday, Sept. 9th. All screenings for those grades have also been delayed.

Kadri said that electricity is necessary for teachers to prepare their classrooms for the beginning of the year. And the Opening Day Ceremony for staff will take place on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 a.m. at Fitch Senior High School.
