Five Arrested At Good Friday Peace Demonstration
Demonstrators charged after blocking roadway in front of Groton Sub Base

Five people were arrested Friday for blocking the road during a peace demonstration outside the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton.
The demonstrators were part of the annual Good Friday Peace Demonstration at the entrance to the base on Crystal Lake Road, according to a police news release.
"At one point during the demonstration, five individuals stepped into the roadway, blocking the vehicle exit of the submarine base, causing the traffic to stop," the release said.

Calvin Robertson, 66, of 3 Ridge St. in Groton; Jacqueline B. Allen, 50, of 26 Clark St. in Hartford; Stephen V. Kobasa, 64, of 46 Hobart St., in New Haven; Brian M. Kavanagh, 68, of 26 Clark St. in Hartford, and a 17-year-old who was not identified were charged with obstruction of free passage, the release said.
All were released on promises to appear in court. The adults were given future court dates of April 17.

Other demonstrators continued with the event without incident, the release said.
