Five Things To Know Today
Spring Temperatures, Sir Ryan's Quest and The Penguin Plunge

1. Today is Friday, Feb. 18. It'll feel like spring again today. The National Weather Service predicts patchy fog before 9 a.m., then mostly cloudy skies and a high near 50 degrees. Tonight it will be mostly clear, with a low around 31 degrees.
2. The Autism Spectrum, a monthly program at the Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, holds an event from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m today for children with autism and their families. Specialists will attend to help guide children and their families through the exhibits. For more information, click here.
3. The Groton Public Library offers a castle craft activity from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. today in honor of the One Book Every Young Children 2011 book selection, Sir Ryan's Quest. The event is free. For more information, click here.

4. The New London Penguin Plunge will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday at Ocean Beach Park. The plunge is the annual fundraising event for Special Olympics Connecticut, where hundreds of people dash into the water to raise money and awareness for the cause. For more information, click here.
5. Groton Town Hall and the Groton Public Schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, in honor of President's Day. Groton schools will be in session on Tuesday, Feb. 22 - originally scheduled to be a vacation day - to make up for snow days.
