Five Things To Know Today

The Zoning Commission in Noank, an Irish Family Concert and Early Childhood Education

1. Today is Wednesday, March 2. The National Weather Service predicts a chance of light rain after 3 p.m., but otherwise sunny, with a high near 44 degrees. Tonight will be clear and cold, with a low around 13 degrees and wind chill of -3.

2.  The Zoning Commission of the Noank Fire District will hold a special meeting on at 7:00 p.m on Thursday, at the Noank Firehouse on Ward Avenue. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss proposed changes to the Zoning Regulations for the area regarding height limitations and property setbacks.

3.  The Irish Family Concert with Tom O'Carroll: A World of Words Ireland program kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight in the Groton Public Library. O’Carroll, a singer and humorist from Dublin, has been singing songs and playing tunes from Ireland for more than 30 years. For more information, click here.

4. Congratulations to Victoria Mengwei Wang of Noank, who was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2010 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a semester grade point average of 3.5. Do you have something you want to announce? 5.  Today during Moms Talk, we'll discuss the proposal to expand all-day kindergarten and pre-kindergarten in the Groton Public Schools, part of the proposed construction plan expected to be before voters in May.
