Five Things To Know Today

The Connecticut Mastery Test, Phase II And A Homeschool Support Group

1.  Today is Monday, March 7. The National Weather Service predicts a chance of rain before 9 a.m., then gradually clearing skis , and temperatures falling to around 36 degrees by 5 p.m. It'll be breezy today and clear tonight. The low tonight will be about 23 degrees.

2.  Students in the Groton Public Schools start taking the Connecticut Mastery Test Tuesday. Children in grades 3 through 8 will be tested in reading, writing and math; students in grades 5 through 8 will also be tested in science. School officials are encouraging parents to put the kids to bed early tonight, and make sure they eat breakfast in the morning.

3.  The Pleasant Valley Elementary Parent Teacher Organization is hosting a presentation about the proposed Phase II school construction plan from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in the gym.  Find out about the proposal, and join in the discussion to learn more.

4.  The CHOOSE CT Homeschool Meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at 1 Fairway Drive in Ledyard. It's a monthly group that's been active in Southeastern Connecticut for about 20 years.  To see the event listing, click here.

5.  Preschool Stories With Miss Tracy, a story time for children ages 3 and up, will be held from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. today in the Groton Public Library. The event also includes songs and crafts. For more information, click here.
