Five Things To Know Today

More Rain, Jazz Piano and Income Tax Help

1.  Today is Friday, March 11. The National Weather Service predicts rain, mostly before 1 p.m., with new rainfall totals between 1 and 2 inches possible. It'll be breezy today with a high near 50 degrees. There's also slight chance of showers tonight.

2. The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection is reminding boaters that many waterways are at or near flood stage at this point.  The characteristics of waterways can change and become dangerous during flooding conditions, even for experienced boaters or paddlers.  If for some reason you must go in flood waters,  the department suggests you tell someone first and wear a life jacket at all times.

3.  If you enjoy jazz, "City Cabaret 2011” presents pianist Jack Madry at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the City of Groton Municipal Auditorium. The free concert series is co-sponsored and co-produced by Groton Utilities and the City of Groton Parks and Recreation Department.  Dessert and coffee will be available for purchase from the Fitch High School Alcohol and Drug Free Party Committee.
