Five Things To Know Today
The Late Judge Frederick Palm, Budget Deliberations And School Book Fairs

1. Today is Tuesday, March 29. The National Weather Service forecasts it'll be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 42 degrees. Tonight will be partly cloudy and colder, with a low around 25 degrees.
2. The Groton Town Council will issue a proclamation on April 2 honoring the service of Frederick Palm, the judge of the Southeastern Connecticut Regional Probate Court who died on March 16. Palm served as a probate judge in the Groton district for 24 years, and was elected six times. Probate Court Administrator Paul J. Knierim has asked that a special election be held as soon as possible to find his replacement.
3. The Groton Town Council begins budget deliberations at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Town Hall Annex, during a special meeting of the council's committee of the whole. A public hearing on the proposed $121.89 million budget was held Tuesday evening.

4. If you have children at Claude Chester Elementary School, the book fair is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. The book fair is open today through Friday if your children attend Northeast Academy Elementary and Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School.
