2. Connecticut will receive $33 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help homeowners facing foreclosure, the governor's office said Friday. Program applications are being accepted by the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and information is available through the website at www.CHFA.ORG or by calling (877) 571-2432.
3. Two Groton town departments are requesting transfers of money for the final quarter of 2011. The Department of Public Works is asking for $162,545 for snow and ice removal, and the voter registration office is seeking $24,000 to cover an expected June 21 Judge of Probate primary election. If approved, there will be $122,455 remaining in the contingency fund, the town manager said.

The Emerson Theater Collaborative is holding auditions from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church on Willow St. in Mystic, for the upcoming production of "The Big Bank", a musical. Call backs are April 13 and 14. If you'd like to audition, you'll need to prepare a dramatic monologue.
5. A former recruiter and a financial advisor will offer a free workshop on April 30 at Mystic & Noank Library on how to get a job and manage your finances. Lisa Saunders of Mystic, a former recruiter for AT&T, and Darrell Fox of Mystic, a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial, will discuss topics including resumes and dealing with unemployment.
