Congressman Joe Courtney advised Vietnam-era veterans who have medical diagnoses for three presumptive conditions related to Agent Orange exposure to file their disability claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by August 30. The claims may quality veterans for up to one year of retroactive benefits, he said in a press release. The three diseases recently added to the VA’s list of presumptive conditions related to Agent Orange are ischemic heart disease, hairy cell and other B-cell leukemias and Parkinson’s disease.

4. Fifty-eight Sailors, "Class 11380/11390", USS Abraham Lincoln (SSBN-602), graduate from Basic Enlisted Submarine School today. For most, though not all apprentice training, also referred to as "A" school and follow-on, is the order of the day. The apprentice training for sailors in this class is located in Groton.
