Five Things To Know Today Thursday, March 24

An Overview Of School Construction, U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney and An Indoor Yard Sale

1.  Today is Thursday, March 24. The National Weather Service predicts snow before 11 a.m, then rain and a high temperature of 42 degrees. Tonight will be cold, with a low of 25 degrees.

2.  Superintendent Paul Kadri will speak at noon at noon at the Groton Senior Center, then at 7 p.m. at S.B. Butler Elementary School about the school construction proposal on the May ballot.  Kadri will outline the plan, then take questions. Fitch Senior High students will provide day care this evening in the Butler cafeteria.

3.  U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. today at the Noank Aquaculture Cooperative to talk about the Shellfish Marketing Assistance Fairness Act,  which will allow the Department of Agriculture to help farmed shellfish growers market their products.

4.  The children's services department at Groton Public Library is offering a family program from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. today as part of its focus on Ireland.  The program is free and includes Irish stories, music and games. For more information, click here.

5.  The Friends of the Mystic & Noank Library will hold an indoor yard sale Friday and Saturday, if you want to stop in and take a look. They'll have items like puzzles, games and jewelry.
