A 53 North Rd. barn in Groton caught on fire Tuesday, Feb. 9, and collapsed sometime after 4 p.m.
According to the Submarine Base Firefighters Local F-219, when Shift Engine 63 and Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department responded to the area of North Road behind DQ, the fire was fully involved.
The Day reported that the barn had once belonged to Ted Ackley Jr. and was a fixture in the family since the 1900s. No animals were residing in the barn and there were no injuries reported.
