Groton Man Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize
The man missed winning the full jackpot by one number, according to lottery officials.

While Connecticut residents are plunking down their $2 to buy a ticket for the wallet-busting Powerball jackpot of an estimated $700 million this weekend, there’s one Nutmegger who already has some Powerball winnings.
On Monday, a Groton resident presented his winning Powerball “Quick Pick” ticket for the Jan. 2, drawing at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill and claimed his $1 million prize. The $1 million prize stems from Saturday night’s Powerball drawing and not the $500 million one from Wednesday night.
Romel Llivizaca’s Powerball ticket — 5-6-15-29-42 — were a perfect match, but he missed the Powerball number, 10. Llivizaca is Connecticut’s first $1 million Powerball winner of 2016.
