Groton Police Arrest Man After Domestic Violence Welfare Check
An AK-47 was reportedly found in the Groton home, police said.

Groton Police arrested a 64-year-old Groton man on Tuesday, May 10, after visiting his home for a welfare check in January.
According to The Day, police responded to 118 Brookshaven Rd., Groton, in January 2016, after receiving a call on a potential domestic abuse victim.
Police arrived at the home and Barry S. Wood opened the door. Police inquired about a woman they received the call about and he reportedly informed police the woman was not at the home.
Wood allegedly attempted to prevent police from looking around the home so police had to force entry and physically restrain Wood.
An officer allegedly saw an AK-47 and 30-round ammunition magazine in the laundry room of the home.
Wood was arrested on the following charges:
- Possession of an assault weapon
- Possession of a large-capacity magazine
- Interference with police
