Monday: The Board of Education Curriculum Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. at Claude Chester School; Board of Education - Special Meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Groton Senior Center and Board of Education - Committee of the Whole is at 7 p.m. at Claude Chester School.

Tuesday: Town Council Committee of the Whole meets at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex - Community Room 1; Board of Education - Special Meeting  is at 6:30 p.m. at the Groton Senior Center; the Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Annex - Community Room 2.

Just for Fun

Monday: If you have some college-bound students or are thinking of going yourself, you won’t want to miss “How to Pay Wholesale for College” tonight at the Mystic-Nonk Library. Andy Lockwood is a college financial consultant and will teach parents how to triple eligibility for grants, scholarships and how to avoid mistakes during the application process. The presentation begins at 7 p.m. and you can pre-register by calling 860-536-7721.

Tuesday The Groton Library’s Teen Author program features author Hollis Seamon, Hollis Seamon who will introduce her new young adult novel, Somebody Up There Hates You” tonight at 7 p.m. “Hollis Seamon creates one of the most original voices to appear in young adult literature, narrating a story that is unflinching, graphic, heartbreaking, funny, and above all life-affirming in its depiction of what it really means to be a teenager dying of cancer.”

Wednesday: Children, parents and caregivers, join Miss Tracy on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. for Toddler Time. Children ages 1 to 3 years are welcome to share a fun-filled story time with interactive stories, action songs, finger plays, crafts and free play.  Siblings are welcome and no registration is required.

Thursday: There’s an author luncheon at Bank Square Books with Susan Conley in celebration of her new novel "Paris Was the Place." Call the store to register. The lunch costs $26 and includes a first edition hard cover copy of the book as well as a catered lunch with your choice of wine or sparkling water as well as readings and discussion time with the author.  Please call the store or click the button below to reserve your place. Friday: Come and find out what’s cooking at the Groton Public Library today! Children ages 7-12 are invited to meet a food professional from Big Y and create simple yet delicious food crafts and treats. They’ll prepare a different no-bake creation each month. Fun with Food meets the fourth Friday of every month at 3:30 PM. Space is limited and registration is required, call (860) 441-6750 or visit the Library.
