Hurricane Irene Is On Twitter, And So Is The Emergency Management Team
Office Of Emergency Management Said To Have Supplies For Three Days

While Hurricane Irene is apologizing in advance for any harm done to the Jersey Shore house via Twitter, Groton residents should be preparing for the possibility of tropical storm strength winds, said Deputy Director of the Office of Emergency Management Jeffrey Williams.
"Right now…it looks like we will be affected by this hurricane," he said. "How much and how little is yet to be determined."
Williams said the areas in Groton that should expect the greatest storm surge are Groton Long Point, Noank, coastal Mystic, River Road, and those located near the Thames River.

Williams said it's never too early to make these preparations and emergency plans:
- Have cash, medications, food and water supplies for three days.
- Have a radio and flashlights with extra batteries in the event of power outages.
- If you have a generator, Williams said now's a good time to fill it with gas.
