Man Stabbed In Assault At Groton Hotel
Police Describe Assault as Isolated Incident, Not Random Violence

A Niantic man was arrested earlier today after police learned another man was stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen at a hotel in Groton on Route 12.
Groton Town Police Lt. John Varone said Lawrence & Memorial Hospital called police at 1:46 a.m. to say they were treating a 24-year-old with multiple stab wounds.
Police investigated and learned that the victim, whose identity was not released, was assaulted at a hotel on Route 12. Family members drove him to the hospital, Varone said. The man's condition was unavailable, but he is alive, police said.

"This is an isolated incident and not a random act of violence," Verone said.
Police later arrested James Wardlaw, 24, of 29 Center St. in Niantic and charged him with conspriacy to commit assault in the first degree and assault in the first degree.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in New London Superior Court. He was being held Tuesday at the Groton Town Police station on a $100,000 bond.
No one else was injured in the incident.
