Mandatory Evacuation Issued To Parts Of Groton
Low-Lying Areas, Coastal And Mobile Home residents Should Check Into The Shelter

Groton's Office of Emergency Management issued mandatory evacuation notices effective at 3 p.m. Saturday for the low-lying shoreline areas of Groton. This includes immediately along Thames river, portions of Avery Point, Jupiter Point, Mumford Cove, Groton Long Point and Noank. The message will also be sent out to homes using our CT-ALERT system.
Residents are encouraged to check into the emergency shelter set up at . The Red Cross emergency evacuation accomodations include hot meals, cots and bedding.
Deputy Director of Emergency Management said people should bring a clothes for up to three days.

Pets are welcome to the shelter. The shelter has crates, food and water but people should bring proof of vaccination.
