Here's where to go (courant.com) — Groton residents can ring in 2026 with a First Day Hike at Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park, one of 16 Connecticut parks offering guided or self-guided walks on New Year’s Day. Most hikes run 1–3 miles between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and park entry is free for vehicles with Connecticut plates through the Passport to Parks program.
